“This guy has the best equipment and shacks around. I’ll be back next year!”

As the lakes start to freeze, the ice fishing season begins! As soon as the ice is safe, you will find Captain Jim in pursuit of fish. Lake Poygan is usually one of the first lake’s to have fishable ice. The biggest chase of Walleyes, White Bass, and Perch starts on Lake Poygan as well. As winter becomes more prevalent, the focus becomes Lake Winnebago and the Bay of Green Bay for great Walleye, White Bass, and Perch fishing. The Bay of Green Bay has become a popular spot for white fish ice fishing.

An Adventure Of An Ice Time

Walleye fishing is huge around these parts. Mostly because they are abundant and thrive in our Wisconsin winter waters. Oftentimes, you find that white bass and perch will comingle with the walleye, making for a tasty selection.

The best part about ice fishing with Captain Jim is he knows the finest spots to ice fish. He helps to drill the holes and provides equipment.

Captain Jim will work with groups up to 8 people. If you are signing up for a Captain Jim Ice Fishing Walleye Adventure, you can expect to learn a plethora of information about the wily walleye you are going after. His knowledge and techniques for plus tips for wrangling them in is invaluable.

Here are some things to keep in mind about an ice fishing experience with Captain Jim:

  • You can expect catching walleye from 8-inch to 32-inches in length, and .5-12.5 pounds
  • Lunch is provided but anything else, you should plan to bring your own snacks
  • Wisconsin is a northern state, so be prepared with reliable outer wear. It gets cold here!
  • We have both permanent and portable shanties
  • Fishing licenses are needed, and you must be able to provide a paper copy
  • 50% deposit required to reserve your spot. (50% deposit is non-refundable)

Another point of interest about ice fishing with Captain Jim. He provides both permanent and portable shanties. Lastly, fishing enthusiasts need to remember is that ice fishing in Wisconsin, our season lasts from first ice to ice out.

A better way to describe this would be dates can range anywhere from Mid-December to First part of March.

And last but not least we would be remiss if we didn’t stress the importance of fishing licenses are not only needed but you must be able to provide a paper copy.
